Target: New Logo for Beauty & Health line

Target's New Logo?

Target has a new logo, replacing the red bulls eye in all the products in the health and beauty care category. I read once that the Target logo had a consumer recall rate of 96%. Under Consideration wrote a great post about the new logo.

96% logo recognition---I can see why the retailer would want to use a new logo.

National Mom’s Nite Out is the first nationally organized celebration just for moms on May 7th! Intended to bring together today’s moms, physically and virtually, National Mom’s Nite Out will unite over 150 social media groups, companies, local playgroups, mommy bloggers and mother social networks in giving moms a well deserved night off.

The evening will consist of local events held across the country, as well as mom-organized parties and virtual activities. The night of the event moms can join in the fun through online chats, Skype and Twitter tweet-ups.

I will be in Los Angeles for the LA Moms Nite Out, along with some other cool moms. I will be with, Kimberley Clayton Blaine, founder of TheGoToMom.TV, and Romi Lassally, founder of TrueMomConfessions.com, who are hosting the event. Read more about the Los Angeles Moms Nite Out on Kimberly's website.

Caylee Anthony Doll: Worst Marketing Campaign of 2009?

The worst marketing campaign of 2009? I've got it and it's only January!

How about making a Caylee Anthony Doll? You know, a doll that is like the murdered child!

I'm mad as hell about this story as a parent, I wrote it up over on my parenting blog, Caylee Anthony Doll: Beyond Bad Taste!

But I just have to know---what in the H-E-L-L is this company thinking?

If you want to read more about this completely horrible idea, read the Orlando Sentinel's article, True Story: The Caylee Marie Anthony Tribute Doll!

I have to go now. I have to go and shower after writing about this. EW.

Digging Our Way Out of 2008

We're digging our way out of 2008 at my house. It's almost mid-January and our holiday lights are still up. This is actually not that bad for our family! The Parent Bloggers Network asked me how my family packs up and reorganizes our home after the holidays and while it's not pretty, we usually have to dig our way out of the holidays, one Christmas stocking at a time.

I am not highly organized, as if that is a newsflash to those who know me. But even if I was organized, the holidays would be completely brutal for my family, and here's why:

  • December 9th - Older daughter's birthday
  • December 25th - Christmas
  • January 9th - Dear Husband's birthday
  • January 12th - Younger daughter's birthday

By the time January 13th rolls around, I am crispy! Because every mom knows who does all the work, shopping, planning and general grunt work for the family birthdays! Here's a hint: It's not dad.

One Step at a Time

Our holiday decorations and hoopla are taken down and put away one step at a time. I have to do it this way or I would be postal because there are so many other events going on in our family during the months of December and January.

I clean and pack up when I can...and it usually gets done mid to late January. Any other clean up plan would be madness as our home is Birthday-Holiday centered from December 1 to January 13. I have plastic clear storage boxes for the holiday decorations and we have a dedicated area in the basement.

Packing up and cleaning up post holidays can be overwhelming. But just like all big challenges, the job doesn't seem so big if you focus on finishing one small task, every day. Before you know it, the job is done and all the decorations are put away.

Until next year.

Wii Boogie Super Star: Fun for the Whole Family!

Our family used to have family game night....until my teen deemed every game or movie her sister picked out was "uncool". In the girl world, there is quite a big gap in coolness from age 14 to age 10. I was a teen, back in the days when dinosaurs roamed the earth, so I understand how my daughter feels. But as a mom, it bummed me out. But then, a Holiday miracle happened in my house!

I received a game to review from The Parent Bloggers Network. We tested Wii Boogie Super Star by EA Games and everyone had a blast! Boogie Super Star lets everyone in the family rock out to their inner rock/pop star. The game is geared so everyone in the family, to the best of their ability, can participate and have fun. There are coaching sessions with a Star Trainer and the game rewards the players when they hit the right note.

As a mom, I liked the fact the songs substituted some of the questionable words (replacing "witch" for "bitch" in a song for example). I'm not only mom that feels this way, my friend Liz over at This Full House, is a a mom of teens and she liked that feature too! I guess I am not the only "uncool" mom in the universe, despite what my teen daughter says.

Boogie Super Star is a game that lets the whole family sing and dance. Even though my kids were totally mortified, I rocked it! The point is that everyone gets up and moving, having fun together. Wii's Boogie Super Star from EA Games is a must for the list to Santa.

Check out other reviews of the game over at the Parent Bloggers Network. Find out more about Wii's Boogie Super Star at EA Games website!
